The Great Flood

1 min read
Two weeks ago my water heater burst. Water, which is drawn to books and electronics, naturally found its way to my office and started building a pond colony in the carpet.

Thankfully, I was able to rescue my computer and precious books before serious damage was done. However, full eradication of the pond took about a week - which made for an interesting experience of running my Etsy shop out of an upside-down pile of stacked desks on an iPad with a filing cabinet over my head. Completing orders was made doubly complicated by remembering exactly where everything was in the now empty office and searching for its new home amongst the piles of stacked chairs and book forts.

Unfortunately, all this adventure prevented me from making new pieces or editing new photos.

But now I'm back! My glorious office is now as dry as California, freshly painted, and restocked with all my jewelry goodies. Regular updates should resume in the next few days.

In the meantime, you can see all my current work and view my vintage stock on Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/gothicglitte…

I’ve spent the last two weeks getting my destash shop up and running. Destash Delight is now fairly well stocked and ready for shoppers. :)

A destash shop is different from a supply shop in that I won’t be restocking the sold items. It is a place I sell the pretty items I bought and never used at prices lower than I paid for them. Right now, I have a healthy mix of Swarovski crystal, antiqued filigree, gemstone beads, cabochons, and watch parts.

I have a lot of watch parts. Movements, gears, plates – even partial projects.

I’ll continue to add new items every 24-48 hours until I run out of supplies. Check back daily to see the newest additions!

I purchased a Paragon SC2 kiln last week. This lovely invention will allow me to make bronze and copper pieces in addition to fine silver. Bronze and copper clay are way cheaper, though, so I'll be able to make larger pieces at much lower prices.

I've already come up with pages of Renaissance-inspired projects for when it arrives. :)

Speaking of new things, I'm filling up [my Etsy shop] as quickly as I can. I have a whole bunch of new pretties that will be photoed and posted over the next few days. These include emerald, rose quartz, and pearl pieces, all in sterling silver. I'm also almost done with another 10kt gold Katherine's Ring.

I am really bad about remembering to update my DA gallery, so be sure to check [Etsy] to see my latest work. I'll try to bring my gallery up to date over the next week.

Have a great day!

A few of my beader friends have Etsy shops that I'd like to share. Each one of them is awesome in a differnt way and totally deserving of the free promo. :)

:bulletblack: If you like Steampunk jewelry, check out Fortunate Sky.

:bulletblack: If you like filigree jewelry, check out Phoenix Tears.

:bulletblack: If you like rosaries, mandalas, and dreamcatchers, check out Purple Mercury Cat.

All three stores have free shipping and are open for commission work.

Almost done!

I've spent the last seven months creating work for my Thesis Exhibition (which opens on Tuesday). I went back to my roots, working entirely in graphite with a kneeded eraser. I've uploaded the latest of my drawings, a combination of Marylin Manson and Queen Elizabeth I, to give you an idea of what I've been up to. :) I probably won't upload the entire set because some of them are very political, but more may be on the horizon.

I'm just so glad to finally have free time again! I ordered a boat load of jewelry supplies today and can't wait to get back into designin and crafting. I also have a folder full of line work to color. So much fun stuff to do, and all the time in the world to do it in. :aww:
